Violation Process

Violation letters are sent via 'Certificate of Mailing' to the property owner and there is a 15 day period for the owner to contact the Zoning Office and either correct the violation in that time period or work out a time frame to comply with the Zoning Resolution. If no contact is made within that 15 days and the violation has not been corrected then a Final Notice of Violation letter is sent via 'Certified Mail' to the owner and again there is a 15 day period for the violator to make contact with the Zoning Office or correct the violation, usually a letter comes from the Prosecutor's Office and they also inform the owner they need to contact the Zoning Office and correct the violation. After that time period elapses and if there again is no contact or compliance, the case is turned over to the Medina County Prosecutor's Office to have them assist in gaining compliance from the property owner and having them purge themselves of the violation. The last resort is taking the property owner to Court, however it may come to that.
