Full-Time Service Department Laborer

Job Title: Full-Time Township Laborer 

Township: Liverpool Township Department: Road Department/ Building Maintenance Reports To: Road Superintendent / Foreman Employment Status: Full-Time 

Job Summary 

The Full-Time Township Laborer for Liverpool Township performs a variety of manual labor and semi-skilled duties in support of township operations. This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and repair of township roads, buildings, parks, grounds, and other municipal infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient public services. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

·         Perform general labor tasks including digging, lifting, shoveling, sweeping, loading, and unloading materials 

·         Assist with road maintenance such as pothole repair, grading, paving, and tree trimming 

·         Operate township vehicles and equipment including mowers, tractors, loaders, dump trucks, and snowplows 

·         Maintain township buildings, parks, cemeteries, and grounds through mowing, trimming, landscaping, and general repairs 

·         Perform snow and ice removal operations, including emergency and on-call response during winter weather events 

·         Install and maintain traffic control, road signs, and barricades 

·         Assist with stormwater, and drainage maintenance as assigned 

·         Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment 

·         Follow all safety regulations, township policies, and work procedures 

·         Perform other related duties as assigned by the Road Superintendent or Township officials 

Qualifications 

Education & Experience: 

·         High school diploma or GED 

·         Prior experience in public works, construction, maintenance, or a related field preferred but not required 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

·         Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions 

·         Knowledge of basic hand and power tools 

·         Ability to follow written and verbal instructions 

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

·         Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious 

Licenses & Certifications 

·         Valid Ohio driver’s license required 

·         CDL Class B preferred 

·         Ability to obtain required licenses, safety and equipment certifications 

Physical Requirements 

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 50–90 pounds 

·         Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing 

·         Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and weather conditions 

Work Schedule 

·         Full-time position, typically weekdays 

·         Early mornings, overtime, weekends, and emergency callouts may be required, particularly for snow removal and severe weather events 

Benefits 

Liverpool Township offers a benefits package for full-time employees. 

·         Starting pay $23.00 HR. Based upon experience.
